What keyboard should I get for my dad?

KerbalPhysicist

Hi!

So I was looking into getting a better keyboard for my dad to use at work. He is a database architect and as such is coding constantly, but a lot of the time he is repeating many lines of code over and over.

I wanted to get him a keyboard that has macro keys that he can bind to those repeated lines of code. My main questions were this: Is there a keyboard with software that lets you bind macros to full lines of code possibly with carriage returns in them? If so what is the best value one? I have heard good things about Logitech with macros, but there's also razer, steel series, etc... so I'm a bit overwhelmed!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

-Sam

If your dad Needs ton of macros the K95 is best for him since its basically a second Keyboard only for macros, but for few macro keys the G710+ is very good but ask him if noise is something to consider since mechanical Keyboards could annoy his coworkers

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

Update Plans: Mini ITX this bitch

afaik most keyboards with macros will let you bind whatever text input you want - i'm unsure on the limit though (character wise).

You're probably going to find them more on mechanical keyboards than membrane ones, but the lights of Corsair, Logitech or Steelseries should give you decent quality. The K95 from Corsair has a somewhat professional look, a decent amount of macro keys and imho has some good add on features (volume scroll wheels are a blessing), however they're decently priced.

He has his own office, but I'll still ask about the noise

IS there anything a little bit cheaper, like $60ish? (American) He only need somewhere in the neighborhood of 5-10 macros

The logitech g105 has 5 macros and 3 profiles so total 15 macros. For $40-50.
