never mind, found out those ram I was looking at is the same ram I have, had to open my computer to see the code tho (CML8GX3M2A1600C9).

 

then I will get them

I want to upgrade to 16 gb of ram from my 8 gb.

 

but I have seen some places that you can just put different ram and it will work, but other places that it may not work if they are not totally identical.

 

so what is true?

 

I have found ram on the internet that I think is the same as the one I did buy for 2 years ago, the looks is the same,

both are corsair vengeance

both are ddr3 (I know that has to be the same)

both are CL9 LP

both are 2x4GB sticks

The one I have says PC3 - 12800/1600MHz, but the one I did find says PC12800/1600MHz

 

other than that, I do not know the differences or the similarities.

 

is it ok or not?

I just want to be sure

it's ram. Just buy some which is the same latency and same speed and same quantity then slap them together in the same motherboard. Done.

This is a very bad Idea

I don't mean literally slap them but as long as it's the same quantity, speed and latency there should be no problem.

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

If the specs looks same and voltages its a perfect match go for it! :D (brand in most cases does not matter also)

In most cases it is 1.5v unless its high spec RAM then it can be 1.65v :P

never mind, found out those ram I was looking at is the same ram I have, had to open my computer to see the code tho (CML8GX3M2A1600C9).
