Help Picking Out PSU

Go to solution Solved by jimakos234,

Would a 650W PSU be able to handle everything at full load (including the future EVGA GTX 980ti Hybrid)?  I built my PC on PC part picker and everything did fit under 500W, however I didn't know if that was a simulated full load or not.  Doesn't the hybrid pull 250W at full load or did I misread something?

That whitelist makes things a lot easier.

it should be enough, but since you are getting a 980ti , i would get a 750w in order to OC both cpu/gpu, and if you plan to get a second one for sli, get a 850w unit and move on :)

also the g2/p2 units from evga have 10 years warranty, hard to miss that , and gs/ps from evga 7 years

seasonic and superflower units (most of them) have 5 year warranty, and others 7.

I plan on upgrading my current GPU to an EVGA GTX 980ti Hybrid and I would like to know what PSUs you all would recommend (or if I even need a new PSU).  I was looking at some of Corsair's 1,000W PSUs primarily because I am use to Corsair and their build quality.  I am open to all manufacturers of quality PSUs.  I would like for the price to be at or under 200 USD.  My current build is listed below.  What do you recommend?  FYI, I am a beginner at PC building and I do not know much about modular PSUs except that they are great for cable management.

  • Intel i7-4790K
  • Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3
  • MSI GTX 970
  • Corsair 750D
  • 120GB SSD \ 2TB HDD
  • High Power 800W HPL-800BR-F14S
  • 2-ViewSonic VX2252MH
  • Corsair H80i
  • Razor Black Widow Chroma
  • Logitech G502
  • Turtle Beech Headset (Probably going to replace it also)
  • Windows 10

The brand, I've done a few internet searches on it and it is rated at 80+ and they sell a few different PSUs on Amazon, albeit with mixed reviews.

ok find any on the power supply list in my sig that you like and get it. 80+gold would be my recommendation.

evga Gs/g2/Gq 650w should be enough

or seasonic G , xfx XTR, super flower leadex gold

corsair RMx or RMi, but they are overpriced, the other units mentioned before are better for the price

Thanks for the info, I plan on doing a little bit of case modding after I buy the GPU (mainly just get the NZXT Hue+ lighting system).  I think that I am going to go with the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 80+ Gold.  This should give me a little wiggle room for some time and I do not plan on building a custom water loop so 1kW is probably overkill.
