Which gaming laptop to buy? $1000 - $1600 Rage

isbilly

I am looking to upgrade my Lenovo Y50 with the 860m GPU in it.  I think all of these would be nice upgrades over what I currently have.  I've been driving myself insane trying to figure out which one to buy so I figured I'd throw it to you guys to help me decide.  I've had an Asus ROG in the past and loved it, but I see they get a lot of hate on the Internet, so I'm looking at all my options.  I know MSI is a popular gaming laptop brand, but I've never seen one in person so it makes the choice a little tougher.  Please feel free to suggest something else if there is a better option. I do a lot of traveling, so a nice laptop would really help me out.  I tend to play a lot of games sitting in a chair with the laptop on my lap, so heat would be a concern for me.

What I have it narrowed down to:

MSI GT72 Dominator Pro G-1438 with 980m 4GB GPU & i7-5700HQ

Asus ROG G751JY-WH71(WX) with 980m 4GB GPU &  i7-4720HQ

Asus ROG G752VT-DH72 with 970m 4GB GPU & i7-6700HQ

Some other choice in the $1000 - $1600 range????

You could have a look at the Clevo p650RG/p650RE at xoticpc or rjtech, not sure if they are as price competitive in the US as they are in the EU. Good luck narrowing down your choice! Im sorry for widening the spectrum :P

Gigabyte's P34Wv5 with the Skylake processors is coming out in the next few weeks, which should be worth a look at. Comes with a GTX 970m in all configurations. You should be able to get at least one above the basic model with that budget.

May be a little out of your budget, but it is definitely worth your money. It is slim and packs a punch. Cooling is efficient with 3 cooling fans.

You can always drop it to the NP8657-S with the 970M and you also can get G-Sync with that.
