Just learnt about this so called "modmic". Looks like a very interesting idea, but anyone know how the audio quality is? Is it worth the price (It costs more than my current pair of headphones...)

If you're recording, you shouldn't be using a mic of this type in the first place, and if you're on skype/teamspeak/etc. then no one will care if you aren't talking to them from a recording studio.

If anything it means no one will complain about voice activation (since you're smart enough to use PTT and not talk every two seconds) and you would use something decent that isn't shorting the fuck out.
