Should I Buy?

Go to solution Solved by t0wer,

I will be getting Kraken 7.1

don't bother with a sound card with that headset.

spend the money on better headphones.

I'm building a gaming pc and i'm with a mobo that haves a good onboard audio solution (Realtek ALC1150 - SupremeFX IV) , and my friend told me to buy a cheaper mobo and get the Asus Xonar DGX.

And there comes the question should I buy it/the DGX is good?

Probably not no, there are other things besides better on board audio. Stick with the supreme FX and skip the sound card.

I can push the budget limit and get the M6H and the Xonar

Yes the DGX is good and it's better than the integrated audio of the RoG board. It's definitely a good idea to get a cheaper mobo + dedicated sound card, you'll end up with better audio and possilbe economies. ;)

That sound haves 7.1 surround?

On the RoG? Slick color scheme appart, I don't see much point into paying 60$ more than a regular, Z87 SLI capable motherboard. SupremeFX is a plus, but since you can get better audio with a cheaper motherboard + ~40$ dedicated sound card ..

Like I said, there are other things on that board that are better than cheaper motherboards (cooling, better components, ect ect).

If you HAVE to buy a sound card, don't spend more than $30. If you spend more than that, get a dedicated headphone amp/dac setup.

If you really want nice audio your going to have to spend a decent amount of money, there's no way around.

If you want to do it on a budget and if I were in your shoes I would get a nice mid grade motherboard with decent on board sound (most of them do) buy an AD700x headphone and a modmic or snowflake mic.

Just my .02
