@Benbroph I recommend something like Avast, as it is free for some pretty good protection.

Uninstall the Norton. It's garbage.

Use Windows Defender. It's good.

 

Or if you're not sure, use free AntiVirus like AVG or AVast.

You can count the minutes till the first shit is crawling into your system.

Allow specific programs that you trust and need full acsess to your computer and network acsess past your firewall and dont Include them In scans. Dont delete Norton, Its a good program, however like all anti virus programs It will never give any programs full acsess to your computer and some programs may fail when they have to send constant requests to Norton to be allowed to acsess certain things. Only allow programs that you trust acsess past your firewall.

Honestly Windows Defender is more than good enough.

 

I've been using it in my system for 5 years without any problems.

If you use Windows 7, download it from here. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-all-versions

 

If you have Windows 8/8.1/10, It's right built in. Search for Windows Defender in Start menu.
