Hey guys, my new computer has been freezing up constantly ever since I started playing the witcher 3. It's the characteristic buzzing sound which is probably the sound played back on the loop, this requires a hard reset all the time. The computer is completely frozen, not just the graphics driver (I pressed the num and caps lock keys and the lights didn't light up on my keyboard). I've already run the windows memory tester so there shouldn't be anything wrong with the RAM. This happens daily, many times, i.e a few times/day. I was wondering if you guys had any idea what it is and how I could fix it?

My Build:
Case: Corsair 750d airflow edition
CPU: i7 5820k
GPU: ASUS 980ti Strix
PSU: Corsair RM750 (ik its not the best but people have said it was reliable and gets the job done, it was on sale anywas)
Storage: One 500gb Samsung 850 EVO
RAM: 16gb (2x8) Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4
Mobo: Asrock x99 extreme 4
CPU Cooler: Corsair h110i
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

This is my first ever build so I don't know if I might have screwed something up? This has been going on ever since I booted it up the first time and the freezing seems very prevalent during graphics intensive games.

The GPU stays under 75 degrees even under full load while I've heard that 80+ is the danger zone.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

disable or uninstall all sound drivers you are not using. don't let windows reinstall them. i'd also uninstall my graphics driver and do a custom or advanced install and only install the physx and graphics driver. none of that other BS.

Ok, I just did a clean reinstall of my drivers. Only the graphics and physx. I'll post an update after a day of testing it.

Nvidia HD Audio (Disabled)
Nvidia Virual Audio Device
Realtek HD Audio

Also, one thing that might be interesting. Whenever I boot up the game (Witcher 3) there is a sort of small but very noticeable "screeching/scraping sound." It's only in the boot up and the main menu but IDK what significance it is.

Sorry, still didn't work. At this point I'm beginning to increasingly suspect that the GPU might have some sort of issue. Either that or the PSU as RM series isn't known for being of the best quality.

sigh...just my luck

Also, something that might be of interest, whenever I start up Witcher, my GPU makes some sort of "screeching/scratching noise" or maybe something like that loud, sharp noise that's associated with something like a kettle. It is only there up to the menu screen as as soon as I load in it is gone. I was wondering if this could be a problem with the GPU itself and maybe have caused it to overheat?
