Honestly the i3-4170 has the same multi-threaded performance as the a10-7800, so even in perfectly multi-threaded applications, the a10 is simply just as good, but not better. However the i3 will always be better in single-threaded tasks. The difference is the a10-7800 has a better iGPU (which is why it's called an APU) so it's better for gaming.
