Q6600 boot problem

Hey guys, so I've upgraded from a Pentium D to a Q6600 on a GA-965G-DS3 rev 1.0 MB with 2x2gb of ddr2 800 and I have the latest bios the thing is that I see the post screen then the Windows is starting screen but then it just shuts down

You applied new thermal paste and the heatsink is mounted properly?

You may have to update the bios first. replace the core 2 quad with Pentium D again and update the bios, then try the upgrade again.

I 've updated it already to F10M I believe it is the latest version

Create a bootable windows USB and go into the repair options, run the command prompt and type in a few commands:

 

bootrec /fixmbr

bootrec/fixboot

chkdsk

But it should atleast try to show the Windows startup screen... Have you tried the CPU on another rig? Are all the power cables securely plugged it?

Everything is plugged in I checked and I see the Windows start-up screen

Sounds like a heat issue to me.

Boot into BIOS and leave it at the BIOS screen, does it still shutdown?

I meant to open the hardware monitor in BIOS and watch the CPU temps to see if they go up to high
