I got banned from GTA Online because someone spawned about $2m on me in under 2 seconds and I had no way of avoiding it. I submitted a support ticket and got an instantaneous automated reply. Does anyone at R* acually read support tickets at any point in time?

They do. I've heard they outsource they're support to a company called "Poll to win". They were the people behind COD Ghosts multiplayer.

How long was the ban for?

 

All bans are issued my an automated system, so I am guessing you did something more to actually get banned. Rockstar isn't banning people who receive money, if they did then everyone would be banned.

How long was the ban for?

I opened a support ticket and when I hit submit, the page reloaded and there was already an automated reply that didn't give me and answer nor did it help me in any way.

1st ban is 2 weeks, 2nd is 1 month, 3rd is permanent. I have heard of permanent the 2nd time but it depends on the severity of the case.

1st ban is 2 weeks, 2nd is 1 month, 3rd is permanent. I have heard of permanent the 2nd time but it depends on the severity of the case.

They changed it depending on what you did, minor offense is a 10 day ban, Spawn money, mass killing etc. is a permanent ban. It should say how long you're banned for on the ban screen.
