Judge me setup!

Hey guys! I am thinking of building a pc (I have money from Christmas so I have enough $$$)  and was wondering, what tweaks can I make to the hardware?

Processor: i5 6600k 3.50 GHZ

Graphics card:  ASUS Geforce Turbo GTX 970 4GB

Power supply: 600 watt EVGA  (80 plus)

SSD: 512 GB SanDisk X300 SATA lll  6gb/s

Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming Pro ATX w/ Programmable Lighting, USB 3.1, 3 PCIe x16, 4 PCIe x1, 1 SATA Express, 4 SATA3, 1 Ultra M.2

RAM: Brand name normal 8 gigs

Case: ZALMAN Z11 NEO

CPU cooler: ASETEK 570 XL

Thanks! Also, would I really need a 570 XL? Or can I cool my CPU with a 120mm water cooler?

drop to the Intel Core i5 6600K

drop the 970 and get the 980Ti with the money saved from the i5 chip

Change the 970 to a 390 (Same price, better performance, more than double the usable vram)

If you're gaming, get a 6600k, it has no performance difference in games from a 6700k. You can then use that money you saved to get a 390X or 980 if you find one cheap enough. You won't be able to get a 980ti by jumping down a tier without spending considerably more money.

Get a dark rock pro 3, it will cool as well as most AIO's while being far more reliable, and quieter. If it won't fit in your case, or you're determined to go to water like so many others, then yes a 120mm aio is completely fine for a 6600k/6700k

You might also consider a 2tb hard drive as well, 500gbs is just too small for a daily use computer.

Their is absolutely no reason to get an i7 for gaming

i5 is more than plenty

DO YOU HAVE TO YELL!?!?!?

OP, the extra threads are pretty much useless in most games, so unless you're streaming/video editing, an i5 is fine.

I'd also get a 390 over a 970, or go with the 980Ti if you can.

Looks good!

the AMD Fury GPU is similar to the GTX980 in terms of performance

and recent sale puts the GTX980 out of the price bracket

But is the 970 turbo sufficient if I want to (stupidly) stay with it?

the 970 is ok for 1080P Ultra gaming

but the Fury is a 1440P or 4K gaming GPU
