hello and welcome to the forums!

your build looks pretty solid to me, i wouldn't add anything.

anyway, i'd like to see how this build turns out. maybe do a build log here on the forum when you start building this?

Hello, welcome to the forum.

That's a solid build but it can be more optimal.

The R9 390 is a better GPU at that price range and I suggest the Sapphire Nitro variant of it. Go for the 970 only if you need Shadowplay.

Which SSD is that exactly? If it's the V300, don't buy it, because it's one of the slowest SSDs available. There are better SSDs like the Samsung 850 Evo or Sandisk Plus, which is usually at the price of the V300.

I've looked at the R9 390 but never actually thought of buying it, is it possible to get some pros/cons?

Also, the SSD is the V300 indeed and I never knew that the V300 was slow, is there any better options? :o

R9 390 has 15% better performance in the majority of games, and has over double the VRAM.

Instead of a V300, get a Samsung 850 EVO or Sandisk SSD Plus, as Pandalf said.

The R9 390 preforms slightly better at 1080p and does pretty well on 1440p compared to the 970. AMD cards are usually better when it comes to long term support and it also has a 8GB memory buffer, which is overkill for most users, but it can come in handy if you are playing games like a heavily modded Skyrim or Shadow of Mordor. I can't say for sure if the 390 will have a better DX12 support, but it's pretty possible. (There are pretty much only speculations as of now)

The 970 consumes less power and has some neat features like ShadowPlay if you are into that stuff. Basically, the 390 is a better deal if you don't care much about the higher power consumption (50-60W more under load, the EVGA G2 will handle it without a problem).

As for the SSD, the Samsung 850 Evo is a much better drive if your budget allows it. Otherwise, there are some pretty decent, cheaper SSDs like the Sandisk Plus, Intel 535 or Crucial BX100.

Wow, I gotta say this is one of the best short explanations I've ever gotten online.

Although Im still not sure what to do, currently at the 970 vs R9 390 stage..

The deciding factor tends to be: Do you want the Nvidia features or do you want better performance?

your choice... both solid cards. the 390 is technically better because of vram and better performance (slightly)

970 has less vram but you get nvidia features like shadowplay..
