Building my first Computer.. is this pc good?

I don't agree with the first half, but I'd recommend the 390 over the 970 right now.

Of course.

However, he can afford a 980 Ti in his build.

Yeah, but a 960 is completely different than a 980 Ti.

True true, but the discussion was go amd because of driver support under the context of the op's original build, so I used the 390 for a comparision/alt. instead.

OP that will run your games plenty fast, even my GTX 680 got over 100fps in ARMA 3 @1080, you'll be good to go.

How is it bad ?

Does the term "boot loop" mean anything?

Yeah, that's what I got when I installed the "game ready driver" in September, on Windows 10.

I have been watching ever since...

NOTHING has improved.

I am buying an AMD card in January, just to escape this misery of terrible drivers...

Boot loop my ass. I've had no issues. Plus, a 980 Ti will kick that 390's ass any day of the week.

guy's, stop arguing, and return to topic...

I think it is a good build but i would perhaps get a cheaper case and maybe an i5 CPU so you can fit an SSD in there...

Well, I will say that their drivers aren't better than what Win 10 has stock, I don't think you'll escape with AMD either, they just announced open sourcing their drivers (prob because they're bad too).

And you think AMD drivers are much better?

Please. People have melted 290' s because of the first iteration of Crimson.

I'm going to step out of this because apparently these people know more about the drivers than the thousands of people around the world complaining about the numerous issues.

It only happens to lower end cards, they don't do things like that to their flagship cards.

I do admit that i have problem on my GTX 860m, but that partly is solved with special updates.

If you consider crimson fan lock, it doesn't really seem to be that bad.

Hello LinusTechForums!

Im a first time pc builder, I just built a pc on pcpartpicker and was looking to see if it was good.

The games i will be playing are Rust, Ark Survival Envolved, and Arma III

The resolution i want to play on is 1080p. Im looking to get 65+ fps.

Also, is it hard to build a computer? Im nervous and anxious to do it and then fail...

PC is http://pcpartpicker.com/p/98dy6h

Please send feedback...

Budget is 1600$ max

Thanks for reading bye!!

Alright man, Seems pretty solid.

Few things though. Is it really impossible to run an ethernet cable to your rig? IT would be much better than a wifi card, not that the one you chose is bad but yeah.

I'd suggest trying to save some money on the psu and case to get an ssd, Seriously, I Can't stress enough how big of a difference it makes.

Hope this was helpful, and don't worry building pc's is easy.

Have fun building !

1.) Nvidia's driver support in Windows 10 is quite bad. I would recommend AMD for graphics right now.

2.) Get a cheaper case, and fit an SSD into that budget! The performance increase is worth it.

i cant really agree with that. all of my friends are using win10 with an gtx650, 650ti, 750, 980, 970 and they are having no problems

Good build overall. But I would recommend buying your Windows 10 license off of r/microsoftsoftwareswap. I got my key for only $35. You can use the extra cash to throw an SSD into the fray.
