Good cheap headphone amp?

Lewiscpullan
Go to solution Solved by Lewiscpullan,

Try your audio out first, you might not need a AMP. An AMP doesn't improve quality, it just provides more power to headphones that draw a bunch of power. For instance, my current headphones I have to max out the volume, and it still is quiet, so I need an amp, but if you can hear audio at acceptable levels without maxing out the volume slider, then you are fine without one.

Thanks a lot for that you saved me £50

How about the one built into your motherboard?

Can you already reach good volume with your current set up?

If you already can, then getting an amp will not benefit you much if at all.

Those Takstar are actually pretty efficient for a full size headphone, at what I suspect 101 db/mW, and 60 ohm isn't too large to worry about voltage.

Mayflower electronics objective2 + ODAC

Fuck no, that is way too expensive. A DAC is certainly not needed in this case, especially one overpriced by 50% or more.

I recommend not buying anything in this situation because it is pretty clear that nothing is needed to "get the most" out of this headphone, which is not demanding in any way.
