Hey im looking for the fastest ssd you can get on the consumer market.. I dont know if size matters but I want a 256gb or less.

Going to do a raid 0 setup so I want as fast as possible..

Thanks for reply!

Why, though?

I would say the Samsung 850 Pro is one of the fastest, but I recommend the 850 Evo.

If you have a M.2 motherboard, look at the 950 PRO.

950 pro will be faster then raid if your motherboard can support M.2 3.0 Otherwise 850 pro or evo.

Samsung 950 Pro 256GB M.2 x 2 ? (Any motherboards got 2 m.2 slots?) that could work.....if you want ultra fast.

Then, the 850 Pro/EVO is the way to go.

Can I use a m2 adapter to pcie even if my motherboard dosent support m2?

if it supports booting from pcie nvme ssds you can boot from it probably but not all motherboards do

if it doesnt support booting then you can still use it but not as a boot drive

For consumer tasks:

Server pcie drives>950 pro m.2>750 series>sm951>other pcie drives>good sata6 drives.

Of those listed, none are worth buying atm. Just get a sata6 drive and be done with it.

Really want fast drive e-peen? Buy an extra 16GB of ram and use it as a ssd cache. Blow everything out of the water for benches.
