Hello!

So after 4 years, im thinking of buying a new GPU, it will replace the 660 i have now. So i've been deciding between (im going for the best bang for the buck here, not the best one possible, also i have a 600W PSU which i dont want to change) the 970 4gb, the r9 380, r9 380x, r9 390... I have no idea which to buy, from the videos i have watched, the AMD ones win, but i dont know if the nVidia ones might be better in the long term? I have no idea so i need help xD. I will be buying of computer universe...

Thanks!

R9 390 is the best for bang for buck, the R9 390X is a bit more expensive for 3-5 frames more.

The R9 390 is the best right now but depending on the quality of your power supply and the rest of your system the 600W might not be enough. Not sure on the latter. Check some PSU calculator and see if it's enough.

A R9 390 system needs 400W max. Explain your logic about 600 not being enough

390x OC, 4670K. 600W PSU. Working fine and dandy.

@OP, even though the 390 has best value most of the time. Your Sharkoon 600w PSU does not give me the slightest confidence. I suggest the 970.

i5 2400 | ASUS RTX 4090 TUF OC | Seasonic 1200W Prime Gold | WD Green 120gb | WD Blue 1tb | some ram | a random case

What if i remove 390 and the from the list? is the 380x better then the 970?? Oh and what is the difference in performance between 380x and 390, the price difference is around 80 euros?

390 > 970 > 380X > 380

try looking for 290 or 290x they will be a lot cheaper and offer very similar performance and 390/390x

wait till 2016

r9 3xx is still  renamed card

nvidia doesn't suprise me

with 2016 brand new amd gpu line

nvidia with pascal both promise hbm2 worth the upgrade

It's not a renamed card, it's refreshed. If it was renamed it would perform the same as a 290 yet it performs better than a 970 which the 290 didn't.

is the 80euros worth the price difference between 390 and 380x?

390 is 35% faster than a 380X

SAPPHIRE is good? its the cheapest one lmao, my i5 wont bottleneck the 390 by any chance right xD?

i5 is fine, Sapphire is fantastic. Just make sure you have a decent PSU and you're golden

I have sharkoon's 600w like the person be4 said, https://www.hardwareheaven.com/2012/04/sharkoon-wpm-600w-power-supply-review/ its this one

That can't power anything above a 950/R7 360. It lacks the PCIe connectors. Get a XFX 550W or Antec High Current Gamer 520M
