Hi all! I recently moved my computer up onto my desk from the floor, and upon powering my computer on I noticed that one of my GPU fans is not running. I have the Sapphire R9 280X TriXX Toxic editon, so I have a triple fan cooler. I noticed my temperatures have increased slightly at idle, to around 40 C. I know that is a safe temperature to run at, but I am noticing some artifacting in video playback on things like Facebook and Tumblr; and I am not sure if that could be linked to the fans death?

I really want to know if it is dangerous to run my GPU with only two of the three fans running, or if my GPU will be fine. If I stress the GPU at 100% my temps seem to max at 79 C.

Any help would be really appreciated!!

artifacting means either unstable OC or dying GPU

it's safe as long as your GPU doesn't overheat, which it isn;t doing.

i really suggest you fix this tough!

Thank you for the fast responses! What would be the best way to go about fixing the fan? I am pretty new to all of this.

Also, I am only seeing the artifacting for the first few seconds of the video and then it corrects itself, is that still a normal symptom of a dying GPU? I really am hoping I do not have to replace it... The card is running at the factory Overclock of 1150 MHZ.

I have yet to experience any artifacts in games, youtube, or netflix.

Lower memory clock to 1500 via Afterburner. Check if artifacts ares till there
