PSU for amd machine.

pyr0

I am planning a build with the following:

CPU: AMD FX 9590

GPU: Msi r9 390

What wattage of power supply do I need for this if I want to overclock the 9590 to 5GHz and the r9 390 to 1200MHz. Could I get any reccomendations for a good cheap power supply at this wattage?

Also any recommendations of a good cpu cooler from £30 to £60 would be great

That CPU is not good. FX-8350 is more reasonable, but if you've got more to spend, go Intel. Xeon E3-1231v3 should be great.

I'd say any XFX/Seasonic/EVGA (B2/GQ/G2/GS/P2)/SuperFlower 750W-850W should be great.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

With the CPU? Just don't.

You only need 650W, but please don't buy that CPU.

Get an i5-4690K with a good Z97 motherboard. If you're doing productivity or video work, get a Xeon E3-1231 V3 and a H97 motherboard.

I used to be quite active here.

The 9590 is HORRIBLY inefficient, and you would need a water cooler with a 240mm rad. I personally suggest going intel, but if you have the parts already, or really want to use AMD, you should go for around 600w to be safe, and avoid the Corsair CX series.

UK, enough for an i5 4690k and a £70 motherboard. I was under the understanding the fx 9590 was better. The GPU is ok, right?

Yes, the GPU is great.

I'd still recommend 650W.

The 9590 still has lesser per core performance even at 5.0GHz.

550W is still enough for a 390 but if you plan to Crossfire later then 750W-850W is recommended.
