SLI Enable/Disable issue

Go to solution Solved by blu4,

I get that too. I just do a reboot. Nothing to worry about.

Hey guys,

So I have both my 980ti's overclocked and have noticed that when I disable or enable SLI through the nvidia control panel, my cards go into some sort of safe mode where they only run at 595mhz or something near to that?

If I restart the PC it's fine. Is that meant to happen? I have tried resetting the overclock and doing it but same thing occurs.

I monitor the clock speed through the latest version of MSI afterburner, and have my cards set to single display mode and maximum performance through the NCP.

Thanks

temps?

aha, i see it also happens when you disable it

They are the Hybrid version from EVGA, temps at max load are 48C at 1480mhz OC'd or 42C at the stock 1360mhz boost.

But yeah, happens when I disable it :/ I mean i don't mind restarting my computer but wonder if something is causing it or is it normal.

It's not a matter of reinstalling, I've done pretty much everything I could and changed every setting in NCP with no success.

Ah alright, I see. That puts some stress of my back :)

Thanks mate

Its actually not a bug with SLI, its a bug with the afterburner RAM monitor

I sometimes have the same problem, using a non SLI config

I meant to say that its not a bug with the program when using a SLI config, it happens all the time for me, but only happens with Vram

So whenever you activate sli it tends to reset the drivers in the process. The gpus think that is a crash so they go into safe mode. With that in mind it makes the most sense to just know you have to restart after activating sli.

I get more annoyed that every time I want to update drivers that I have to reactivate it. As if I was going to decide to leave it off all of a sudden.
