Regular i7-3770 running at 4Ghz+

Today I replaced my dead motherboard with a Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H and ever since then, my CPU has been running at more than 4Ghz. How is this possible? My CPU is an i7-3770, the one which you cannot overclock. This is a screenshot of my performance tab in the task manager: http://i.imgur.com/ddLB9TC.png 
As you can see, the current speed is at around 4.20-4.30Ghz which is weird since the maximum turbo speed is 3.9Ghz. What could be causing this? Is my CPU really running at this speed and if so, how is this possible?

Binned chip is all I can think of.

Download CPU-Z and see what that says, I find it to be a more reliable.

The core speed in CPU-Z I've noticed has not gone above 3890.72MHz

check the bus speed maybe you mother board overclocked your cpu by it self

Then I think TaskManager is inaccurate then.

I think its a problem of task manager check the bios but if cpu z says its at his normal speed it should be also in bios

have you by any chance moved to Windows 10 after replacing the motherboard? Some CPUs show wrong clock values in Win 10.

NEVER use task manager to monitor your stats\

its not running at that speed

 

always use a proper tool like CPU-Z

Task Manager is perfectly correct the most time, and it's perfectly fine for basic monitoring. It's just a bug in WIn 10 with some older CPUs

Yes I am running windows 10. I've been running it since before the mobo replacement. I'm guessing it's some sort of a bug in the task manager since it shows correct values in CPU-Z

it is definitely NOT fine for monitoring, especially if you're monitoring it to overclock

 

i have literally seen hundreds of posts about people getting incorrect readings in task manager

and no, it is not just older CPUs like the 3770 (which is not that old by the way)

ive seen it happen with skylake CPUs, haswell CPUs, sandy bridge CPUs, AMD CPUs, etc...

It is fine for *basic* monitoring. If it's not bugged somehow as in this case, it reports the correct numbers, has a nice UI with utilization etc. I have been seeing nothing but the correct values in it, and yes I'm overclocked.

 

The task manager in Windows 10 suffers from bugs, never said otherwise. It's a hit or miss. But if it works, it works perfectly fine.

 

The 3770 isn't that old, which is why I said "some older cpus". It is older than the current line, that's what I meant. But yeah, could be completely irrelevant I guess.

 

My point is, when it works, it works. Nothing too fancy or too detailed, but as a generic means of basic monitoring, its fine.

have you reset your bios ?

 

It's possible it's overclocked with the Bclock
