Hi,

I had two 580's and after a while one started to play up and would show lines across the screen (image below), I declared it dead and around a year later I thought id give it another bash and the same problem happened.

But I can get as far as to the windows login before the screen does nothing, it will load the windows logo (with the stupid lines) but not go any further. I have had similar issues and managed to fix them in the past but none with my video cards. I am running:

Intel i7 980X

Asus Sabertooth X58

12GB Corsair Dominator RED

Corsair AX1200

x2 580's (one of which is "dead").

I've tried the card in the same slot as my working card with the same PCI cables incase it was a faulty PCIe or a fault in the cables but nope nothing has worked, being a old forum user but forgetting all my details (typical of me) i decided I could try the LTT community experts to see if they have a solution :)

thanks

OVEN BAKE THAT FUCKER

/YES, It's a real thing.

I returned a 8800GTS and a 5850 back from the dead by reflowing the solder. (cards lasted another 8-10 months)

But... Go get instructions using the various links in the above search, there are steps to take.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

well the initial boot is handled by the cpu and not by the gpu. the windows login is the first part handled only by the gpu. the bios is handled by the cpu and the passed to the gpu.

i think your gpu is dead but still able to pass an image from somewhere else
