What is the best eReader in the market right now for comics/manga?

i have heard that the kobo aura HD has the best ppi and resolution but what about price?

i was tempted to get the Nook simple touch for its price, but it needed a back light for my usage.

I use my Kindle Paperwhite to read manga and it is brilliant! I would have it over any tablet since the screen is front-lit making it easy on the eyes and great if you want to read at night. Highly recommend!

EDIT: Here is a picture I just took ( I'll let you guess the manga :D)

Yeah it doesn't support epub but you could convert them using Calibrie to a desired format such as awz3 or mobi.

That's a major bummer for me lol

Who knows maybe we will see a new kindle by the end of this year. They seemed to have followed a yearly release quite well up until now since the first kindle :D Maybe they will also add the epub support!

I don't think they will because e-ink isn't a money maker for them anymore and they've never been keen on opening up their devices to open filetypes lol

Or just redownload them in Mobi. It's extremely easy to find Mobi files.

A cheap Android tablet (Nexus 7) works great too. You can get both the Kindle and Kobo apps for it, supporting epub in the process (Kobo uses epub, iirc).

It really kind of depends on what the resolution of your comics/manga is, or an average of what they tend to be. I have a Nook e-ink reader in my drawer, which is great for text, but when it comes to comics/manga, things tend to get difficult to read (pictures look ok, but the text becomes unreadible on some pages). From what I understand, the Kindle e-ink readers are similar in terms of resolution.

I've never heard of Kobo's before, but for a black and white reader, they look pretty good. The format support is fairly solid just from looking at the tech specs, and the resolution looks good. I'm personally using a new Nexus 7, and everything looks great on it, plus it's more than just a reader.

I'd recommend the Nexus 7, but again that's because it's more feature rich than standard readers. The Kobo looks like a good second choice, too.

One thing e-readers do have over tablets, though, is battery life. They can last a long time for continuous reading (think Kindle is over a month at 30 mins a day which translates to 15 hours at least), while most Android tablet batteries drain after about 6-7 hours of screen time.

I own an older Sony one. I like it, I've read tons of books using it. I didn't pay for it, it was given to me. :P If you can get an e-reader for really cheap less than 100 dollars, pick one up.

E-ink is also vastly superior in direct sunlight so if you're like me and like to read at parks or the beach then e-ink is great. For flights though I bring my ipad and nook tablet for the added functionality and planes generally have places to plug in electronics nowadays
