ok it now peaks at 55 but I will try to push it for 4.5

am pushing it for 4.5 at 1.275v. I will be gone for the next 8 hours so time to see if it is stable. at a 28% oc.

Keep pushing it until your max temps reach 80. Theoretically anything up to 90 is fine for the CPU, laptop chips often run in the high 80s for years. I'd still try keeping it below 80, but if you're currently only running at 55°C then there's plenty of free performance left in your silicon.

Sorry was going to add more but then was getting lag from starting the stress test so I stopped. The stress test was stopped because my monitor turned off so will try it again tomorrow making sure to change that and I will tell you how it went.

80°C is perfectly fine and won't reduce the lifespan of your CPU, what's more important is the voltage. If you're pumping 1.4V Vcore through there then you'll 1) be running much more watts through your motherboard's power delivery and 2) you'll be causing CPU degradation. If you're running below 1.2V however, you'll be completely fine.

Just to clarify, "degradation" is a relative term. In the case of 1.4V+ it can mean that your CPU has just months to live. In the case of 1.275V it means that your CPU will become unstable and you'll need to slightly lower the overclock or further increase the voltage... in maybe 6 years (or maybe 16, depending on the silicon lottery). I've been running my 4670k at 1.33V for 2 years now, no issues.

I had only planed to have it for 6 years. am now seeing if 1.240 will be stable.

am going to bump back up the voltage to 1.275

so now at 4.5 am getting 65C with spikes up to 71.
