I was planning on getting this http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-PV316G160C0K-1600MHz-Desktop-Heatsink/dp/B00453R808/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1449940009&sr=8-7&keywords=patriot+viper+pc-12800 ram for my new pc (FIRST BUILD!) but upon further inspection on the box it says "designed for intel 6/7/8 series platforms" When I did more research on the product page it says " Tested and compatible with Intel’s DDR3 compatible processors and chipsets, The Viper 3 series provides the best performance and stability for the most demanding computer environments." Does this mean it will be incompatible with amd processors (such as the 8320).

-Thank you, any help is much appreciated.

Its RAM... for a desktop system, its the easiest thing to get right (besides the Hard drive). As long as the memory speed is compatible with the motherboard, you're fine.

Also it appears the version I have says "XMP ready" while other editions of the same kit do not.

XMP just means that it has a set speed profile you can turn on for the RAM in BIOS.

No it should be fine but I would advise against using an 8320 anyway.

Agreed, unless you need the extra cores for video editing or other applications. If it is only for gaming, then Intel will crush
