Hello LTT, i have 1 question, are you able to SLI 2 GPU's from the same line, just not the exact same thing, like what i want to do it mix a r9 270x with a r9 280, so will that work

GPU:Msi r9 270x. PSU:corsair CX600M. CPU AMD-fx 8320. CASE: ultra etorQe mid tower. HDD:1tb barracuda.MOTHERBOARD:ASUS M5A97.

No. The other card either needs to be a 270 or 270X. In order to Crossfire the 280, you will need either a 280X or a 280.

no, the r9 280/x run on the tahiti core and the 270 is curacao. not same lines

The AMD version is called Crossfire by the way. And like others have said, you need a GPU from the same "family" of cores, e.g Pitcairn, Bonaire etc. So a 270 will only work with another 270 or 270X. I'm not sure about other generations though.

Not quite.

 

Just rule of thumb keep it as the same card (can be from different manufacturers though).

 

The only exceptions are AMD Cards which can xfire with the older non-rebadged ones; but that doesnt really count.
