Hi,

I am new to this community so hello. I am also relatively new to PC building having built my first PC earlier this year. It had the following specs:

MoBo: ASUS M5A78l-M/USB3 (Chipset: AMD 760G)

CPU: AMD FX-6300 Black

Cooling: Stock

GPU: ASUS DirectCU ii R9 270X

RAM: 2x4 GB Kingston HyperX Fury DDR3

PSU: Corsair CX430

Storage: 1 TB WD Caviar Black (not sure on exact model but its works fine)

Case: Fractal Design Core 1000

Display: Dell U2515H (1440p)

Not great I know but I am a student with limited budget and new to the whole thing. I have since made a few upgrades to the system in this order:

Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (windowed)

Cooling: Corsair H90

GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G

Storage: added a Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB SSD as my boot drive

PSU: Corsair RM750i

This has allowed me to have limited overclocking success with my CPU (the MoBo is pretty rubbish for this i think) and generally improved my gaming experience. I want to upgrade my MoBo and CPU i was thinking Skylake so this forces my hand in memory terms too. This is what I had in mind:

MoBo: ASUS Pro Gaming Z170

CPU: intel Core i5-6600K

RAM: either 2x4GB corsair vengence 2400 MHz or kingston HyperX Fury Black 2133 MHz

Please can i have your thoughts on my build and future plans and please give any advice on how you would improve my build in its current form. I predominantly use my PC for studying, gaming and i do a fair amount of photo editing on photoshop and lightroom so please bear this in mind. I don't really want to spend more than £400 ($600, €550).

Thanks in advance.

MoBo: GIGABYTE GA-AX370-Gaming 5     CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X       Cooler: Corsair H115i with Noctua NF-A14 Fans     GPU: MSI GeForce GTX970 Gaming 4G

Memory: 2x8GB Corsair LED 3200         Storage: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO and 1TB WD Black Enterprise

PSU: Corsair RM750i           Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX TG in Grey
