Thank you that fits very well into my budget! The only thing I'm asking myself is how well the 6700hq performs in games?

According to the benchmarks here, the 6700K is about 17 to 28% better than the 6700HQ, but benchmarks are benchmarks and they don't really represent real world performance.

so do you recommend going for a different one or do you think  that it will perform just fine.

It's more than enough - go for it

about the same as a i7 3770

i7-3770 (3.7GHz 4-core turbo) is stronger than a 6700HQ (3.1GHz 4-core turbo) by a decent bit

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

from a few benches I looked up they were within 5% of each other :o

I don't know about that. Most people seem to disable turbo for those tests on the desktop. And even then, if they were within 5% of each other, the 3770 should have been ~5% stronger. Ivy Bridge to Skylake doesn't jump 600MHz in clockspeed.

Also note that single-core tests don't tell the whole story, as the single-core turbo is 3.5GHz on the 6700HQ, as opposed to the pitiful 3.1GHz quad-core speed.

True - though I've seen the 4720HQ a stone's throw away from the 2600 in a lot more benches and since going from Sandy to Ivy you jump by about 10% I imagined that they would be close since the 6700HQ is around 10% faster than a 4720HQ

An i7-4720HQ working correctly runs at 3.4GHz, versus the i7-2600 which runs at 3.5GHz, both under 4 - core turbo load. The 4720HQ if not being TDP limited should beat the 2600 by a large margin. The Ivy Bridge CPUs had a larger 4-core turbo (+300MHz versus +100MHz for sandy bridge) and Skylake is much slower (3.1GHz vs 3.4GHz).

6700HQ is slower than a 4720HQ if both are working at their max turbo under a 4-core load, make no mistake.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.
