I personally use Core Temp for my CPU temps and MSI Afterburner for my GPU temps. There are multiple programs out there for monitoring but I prefer those over all the others that I have tried.

will MSI Afterburner work for other cards other than msi? #noob

Yes MSI Afterburner will work with all GPU's both red and green. I used it for my 7970, 280x and now my 980Ti. It's a great program and you could actually use it for your CPU as well but that's up to you. There isn't anything wrong with it but it's just personal preference.
