gtx 960m vs 970m

i was wondering if the price increase from the gtx 960m to 970m is worth it?

Depends on the price difference. I'd say if it's within $150 you might as well go with the 970M.

This is true, they have the same core and the same overclocking potential (with a custom vBIOS, at least; otherwise +135MHz is the limit).

 

The 970M is a decently stronger card at its base than the 960. Overclocked, it leaves a 960 in the dust, and THE 960 CANNOT CATCH UP. Whether or not the user can find a compatible custom vBIOS with stabilized voltage, removal of power limit throttle and overclocking potential past +135MHz is a different story entirely.
