Does the hd7990 have 6gb effective memory?

Each GPU (essentially two HD 7970's) have 3GB of memory each.

The data is MIRRORED to each CPU's memory.

 

Up until present, this is true for ALL dual-GPU cards

• GTX 590
• GTX 690
• GTX Titan Z
• Radeon HD 6990
• Radeon HD 5970
• Radeon HD 4870X2
• etc

I just bought one at an auction site, for essentially the price of a 750ti. Im considering using this gpu instead of my spare gpu (560ti) since i sold my 780ti :-)

7990 is more powerful than a 980 so yeah.

Well, that was the plan. Though its not the reference model. It's the powercolor devil 13 model. With the beefy 3 slot, 3 fan cooler :-)

I'm still running two HD 7970's. There's no immediate need for me to upgrade -- even if I crank the resolution up to 1440p.

Though...I don't know with my new 144 Hz monitor  .

As long as its able to feed my 144hz monitor with goodies, then im more than happy. And as long as its coilwhine is not that bad (if anything) then its fine :-)

Well. Im running bf4 at 1080p 144hz, as long as the card can run that, im fine with it :-)

Nah, it's not exclusive to the 7970 - a lot of cards may or may not exhibit coil whine.

Well okay, at some point my 780ti obtained some coilwhine. It was LOUD!

Well yeah. The card has just got one problem. He's telling me That the cooler os loud, but I haven't heard the cooler's sound yet. I might just wait until the card arrives. I might be able to set a custom fan profile, that might work, right?

You might be right yeah, though, we got to keep in mind that it is a dual gpu card with 2 of the hottest gpu's made, something has to be cooling them

290X reference - 95*C core under load

Titan Z - I think it was around 90*C
