I just thought I would share something called a CPU card, I'm not quite sure how they work but they are defintely a thing

I feel like this is for next level virtual machines also you might want to take away the LMGTFY link otherwise the mods will attack

Neato. But that doesn't look like a normal PCIe card. I'm thinking it uses some sort of weird proprietary connector.

I'm doing some research and apparently building with these essentially means breaking down your motherboard into a backplane and multiple cards that communicate with each other.

 

so instead of buying a motherboard, processor, and RAM, you would instead buy your backplane, your CPU cards, CPUs for the CPU cards and all of your RAM and other stuff needed to power everything

 

Some of these backplanes support nine or more cards at once. I'm also assuming that these cards can communicate and behave as a single machine but that depends on the type of cards and backplane you use.
