Hello guys! so I just bought a new HDD as suggested from this forum. I installed fresh windows 7 on it, I just wanted to check task manager and what do I see... for doing absolutely nothing, PC RAM usage is 68% and CPU is jumping from 50-60%. I got confused and restarted PC, but it starts shortly after  some minutes PC is booted up. as I did my research, I discovered that its caused by windows update. it keeps searching for them but cant find anything ( I let it try like 40 mins at least).I dig up some info and as suggested from internet, tried some tips.(disabled windows update and other 2 services, cleared cache folder, changed proxy and etc.) still nothing helped. some dude on one of forums posted that he tried everything but only one tip helped him, which was installing intel rapid technology driver. I  assumed that because I got new HDD it may have some issues mby. so I wanted to download that driver but it tells me that its not compatible with PC. my PC specs are: Mobo: MSI G31TM-P2 (775 socket). if any other specs are needed I will provide. BTW my HDD is Seagate ST500DM002-1BD142

dont disable anything

connect the PC to the internet and leave it alone for a few hours, preferably days

install all windows updates that show up and restart

leave it again for a few days

then everything should be back down to 0 CPU usage

though its brand new HDD... should I reinstall windows though?

yeah if possible, but that will take a long time to reinstall the 200 uptades after doing a clean install

also check the HDDs heath using crystaldiskinfo, if it says "caution" that means it needs to be replaced

noo it wont take long time at all. it takes 5-10 min maximum, and as I said its freshly installed windows, there are only 16 updates installed. I used that program and also HD tune. they show that its good. though I had corrupted HDD, it showed good status on it too :/ its weird programs. when I took it to store to sell it for 30% of its price, they used program which showed that it was damaged :/ okey I will reinstall windows and see what I can do

Then either let windows updates sort itself out, or upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 7 and 8 will become obsolete and unsupported by Microsoft.

i found that people have same issue like me, with same Seagate 500GB drive. and they fixed this issue using Intel Rapid Technology driver. I cant install it. it tells me it doesn't meet minimum requirments of PC

While that maybe true. I've seen people with this same issue that resolves itself over a few days. I know nothing about Intel Rapid Technology driver requirements.

it just uses too much RAM to let it figure it out :/ though I can disable windows updates and have no updates at all or I can return this new HDD

Well, up to you then honestly. You have your answer

A) Let it sit.

B) New HDD (ssd would be better tho)

C) Disable Windows Updates (have fun with those security issues)
