Care to elaborate?

Good for what?

These are both brilliant questions.

Also make sure it's the right type of RAM.

I personally didn't find 16GB of RAM near enough for what I do, so I wouldn't consider it 'good'. However a 'normal' user who has a normal amount of browser tabs and runs normal games, and doesn't virtualize anything would probably be fine with it in a lot of cases.

Sig under construction.

8gb of ddr4 for basically anything needed on a computer.

Well anything needed varies person to person. I might need my computer to do something yours doesn't.

workstation, gaming, youtube, web browsing, movies, and combinations.

Workstation is vague

But 8GB sounds like it'll be enough for you based on your vague responses (someone with work to do that requires more would probably be able to be more specific so..).

Given that your responses have been vague, start with 8GBs and just add more as needed. IMHO 8GBs in the new minimum if you're gaming.
