Radiator FPI

Go to solution Solved by gazabi,

i was looking at some radiators and i saw one with 16 FPI- is this high or low?

Its sort of in-between  but leans towards the high fpi  side. You'll probably need stronger fans for that radiator to reach maximum effectiveness.

16 FPI is about medium or average but it depends what your going for, for silence between 10-20FPI is good where anything higher or having it double stacked fin arrays are more resistant to having air move through it at lower RPM's, making them more suitable for high RPM fans and more noise.

higher the FPI, the better the cooling but the more powerfull Fans ull need. (higher RPM & higher static pressure, thus louder)

Low is around 9 FPI, and high is around 20+ (at least from what iv seen)

Personally I use a NexXxos Monsta 240 with push + pull, and 2 XSPC AX240 in push. All the fans run about 900-1000 RPM, quiet.

IIRC the Monsta rad, although thick, is only 9 FPI, and AX rads i have I believe are 16 FPI.
