Where it says max resolution is 2560 x 1600 ?

I want to get an Asus Amd Radeon R9 280X but says that it's max resolution is 2560 x 1600...

 

What does that mean?

 

Does that mean that I can't play anything at 4K resoultion or does it mean that it's not recommended?  

you must mean using dvi

i guess the the ports it comes with cant handle higher resolutions?

Ah, It's the DVI that supports max of 2560 x 1600.

 

You have 2 x display port and an HDMI port  which supports 4K.

yes you can, the r7 250 ( and any other modern gpu , including the 280x ) can output 4k over hdmi (30hz) and displayport

Be aware, that if you use this GPU on a 4K TV all you get without active adaptor (Club3D hasn´t released it yet) is 30Hz. I have a 4K TV (Sony Bravia 85C) here. 30Hz isn´t very enjoyable and you won´t be able to use 4:4:4 color scheme either. If you are looking for that you´d have to go with a nVidia GM20X card as the GTX960 i.e.
