Dell U2515H vs. Iiyama XB2483HSU-B1

I need a new monitor. Mostly for non-gaming things, so I've been looking at non-TN panels.

 

I looked at the Dell, http://www1.la.dell.com/vc/en/corp/peripherals/dell-u2515h-monitor/pd.aspx?refid=dell-u2515h-monitor&s=corp, which I can get for about 300€.

This is quite expensive for me and I'm a bit worried about backlight bleeding and a bad black depth (dark movies...).

 

As a cheaper alternative I found the Iiyama, http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-xb2483hsu-1/, which I can get for about 200€.

This one seems to have a good black depth and little backlight bleeding but apparently only if you look at it straight -- so maybe this is worthless(?).

The Dell seems to be of better quality in general (well it's +100€, so that's to be expected).

 

I'm torn between the two. Is the premium for the Dell justified? What do you think?

 

Just to be clear: I'm not buying a new monitor just for watching movies. I'm mostly going to work with it and would like decent colours.

But it's also going to be the monitor I'm watching movies with. Thus minimal bleeding and such would be nice.

The dell is 2K compared to the IIyama's 1K, if that bothers you? But I personally would go with the premium because it's a reputable company, and is 2K, it's also very ergonormic IIRC.

It really depends on how much you value the backlight bleed..

Just keep in mind that the iiyama does have a little bleed too.

I wasn't aware Dell had the pixel guarantee. (Was aware of the higher resolution which is nice.)

I reckon the logical conclusion would be to pick the Dell, since I will spend most time working with the monitor.

 

I guess I will order it and see if my unit performs well enough in dark movies.

 

 

In case anyone still has something to add, I will probably hold off buying it for another day.
