Hi!

My sister has got a usb on which she stores everything for her school study.

Now, she accidently deleted a folder and now it's gone.

It isn't in the bin and when you try to find it using software it doesn't find it.

(Now don't start me on backups...)

Thanks in advance

Hi!

If you cannot find it with file recovery software, then you are basically fucked, it might be worth trying with other pieces of software, as some are better than others, linux does a better job here too

SHE SHOULD BACK SHIT UP

Try a few different data recovery programs, I don't remember which one I used but I deleted a school assignment once and was able to fully recover it.

All I remember was that all the file names get deleted so you have to just recover every file it can find until you find the thing you want.

CPU: 6600K @ 4.6Ghz | COOLER: H100i GTX | MOBO: Asus Z170 AR | GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid | RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 16GB |

CASE: Corsair 760T | PSU: Corsair RM750x | STORAGE: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB & Seagate 2TB | KEYBOARD: K70 RGB | MOUSE: Deathadder Elite

We tried using 2 different programs, any more free suggestions?

hm well its possible that the software used to recover the data has ballsed it up further

Normally software like Recuva does the trick

Ok stop using the drive ASAP and find a good file recovery utility (preferably in linux) and see if you get get some of the data back. remember the more data you start to write on to it the harder it is to get a recovery of the files so tread carefully and you will be up in no time

Think that that is the case. It had a LOT of .tmp files which were around 50mb. <- What's the problem there?

That ought to teach you sister to do a backup or at least get Google Drive or One Drive, it's free and your data is secure.
