So i moved my hard drive to my new computer so that i could test things. The drive already has ubuntu on it. When i try to boot from it everything seems to work fine at first. It asks me for my password, and i provide it, but then it gets stuck on this screen. Anyone know why?

Edit: Sorry about the failed pic. Its just the ubuntu background with my mouse that i can move around.

There's no guarantee an ubuntu install will work across different computers. If it got as far as the login screen that's already a nifty achievement. Try logging in from the terminal (should be as easy as pressing alt+f1 on the login screen) and see what happens.

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

most likely

I had to unplug the computer because i couldnt get the computer to shut down from that ubuntu screen. Now when i turn on the computer it stays on for 2 seconds then shuts down. Did i break something? Im freaking out here.

Nah, it's most likely just software. Just reinstall everything if you don't have any important data on it.

I just replaced the PSU and its back to normal now so i guess the last one just died or something. Gonna do a fresh install of linux now.

No but i csn get into BIOs again without the computer turning itself off. I'm trying to do a fresh install but now it doesnt seem to want to let me boot from a flash drive...

do you have an optical drive? in my experience they produce way less issues than flash drives

Unfortunately no. Also, new problem. I just tried to turn it on again and i think i bridged the gap between the wrong header pin. There was a small spark and now it wont turn on at all...
