The Hybrid is designed for overclocking. I'd personally go for any of EVGA's ACX cards for the warranty and support.

How loud are they? I'd like the best performance card while still not sounding like a rocket engine :)

The cheapest one. The only thing that would matter in your case would be the acoustics and temps, so a reference PCB with a custom cooler will probably be the best for you.

I would get the hybrid because it will be more silent

Not really true. There will be pump noise, noise from the fan on the rad and noise from the blower style fan on the card. I'd actually expect it to be louder than fully air cooled cards.

They're not loud at all.

The Strix is good too, yeah. There's not really a bad non-reference GTX 980Ti as far as I know.

I just linked that becasue they are the same price and that one has a higher clock. I wish i knew about sounds :(

Had two in my lifetime. First one broke within a week, second one even at idle sounded like a jet. I'm sure that some AMD cards aren't bad but I just cant get over my past experiences.

Luke just did a video on this subject. It's on vessel so you can watch it on YouTube probably this week? I believe the middle end evga was the best choice for non overclock. Have to watch it again to make sure

Not trying to convince you of getting a AMD, I'd stick with a 980ti.. But that's some weak minded shit right there my friend. Don't live your life in the past, get over it and be adaptable. Plasticity is always going to reward you, stubbornness will always be it's own punishment.

On topic, those 980ti reference coolers are just plain sexy, I'd go for a SC.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Well if there was a big enough performance boost from amd i would. BUT i prefer shadowplay  aswell for recording and have no reason to switch to amd.

Performance wise the 980ti is king. The Fury X takes it at stock clocks, but the 980ti can overclock and the Fury X may not. (even though they "can" I have yet to see one succeed in doing so) Shadow play is a gimmick, it's marketing. There are hundreds of video capture programs, AMD has an equivalent as well. Crimson has changed the playing field but I understand it's going to take awhile for those using Nvidia only to acclimate to the change.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
