The first has a higher clock of 40 mhz which in even synthetic benchmarking would yield a very marginal difference. I would honestly choose based off of appearance because you can always overclock which would rely more on the Silicon lottery

I don't want amd cards because f the pain in the ass of me trying to stream pc to shield tv. And I want the extra features offered in the gtx 900 Nvdida Cards. So please just tell me if you know. What are the difference(s) between the 2 msi 970 cards. whether its performance, build or both.

one comes with a higher clock speed or factory overclock. However like mentioned above if you overclock at all then this means nothing as the silicon lottery will determine which is faster not their designs. 

 

Other than that MSI generally favors its Gaming line (the red one) over all other lines (besides the lightning) so it might be slightly (maybe) worse build quality. But I don't have any experience to back that up.

 

In the end I would suggest buying which ever one matches your system color more. There are no major inherent differences that will lead to drastically different performance, as that will largely be decided by the silicon lottery something you cannot control.

Why does the red msi have more features than the white one?
