I've had one stick of XMS 3 fail on me as well as 2 Voyager 32GB USB 3.0 drives fail. Austin also had a bad stick of Corsair value ram during scrapyard wars. Seems like it's hit or miss for Corsair products.

If we're being perfectly honest here, it wasn't exactly operating in an ideal system if I recall.  That could have affected it, just maybe :)

I have 32gb 4x8gb sticks of 1600MHz corsair vengeance pro and they work wonders. There's not much difference between the 1600-2400mhz ranges for gaming, 2 maybe 3 fps at most for AAA titles *IF* you're running at max settings. Just get what's on sale at the time, don't worry about the specific clock speeds, 1600 gets it more than done.

It's fine. RAM doesn't really affect performance much, especially in games. The amount of RAM you get is generally makes more of an impact rather than the type/speed you get.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.
