motherboard memory speed

so i currently have ASRock B85M-HDS

in it's specs it says that it supports 1333 & 1600MHz RAM

but my 1866 works fine

 

I'm upgrading my motherboard to same B85 but bigger, because i will crossfire

should i risk it?

Those are the default speeds it supports. Using XMP, it can support higher frequencies. Even if it doesn't support 1866MHz, you can just run them at 1600MHz no problem. 

 

Also, are you sure your RAM is actually running at 1866MHz? It will often downclock to 1333MHz or 1600MHz unless you enable XMP in the BIOS.

You can check quickly by downloading CPU-Z and see what the speeds are (it will be half of whatever speed it's effectively running at, so 1600MHz is shown as 800MHz. Just double what CPU-Z says and that's the speed its running at)
