HD 6970 with cx430

That13thGuy

Will my cx430 be able to run the 6970 in my pc? My specs are below, but it's important to note that it used to run on a 250W psu without a good gpu in it. Also I'd rather not have any comments regarding my other pc components as I am allready aware that they very much suck. So only comments on the topic pls!

Specs:
I3-2130 (3.4ghz dual core)
8GB 1600 mhz ram
Cx430 psu

Gpu is the question, I know it handles the r7 260x fine!!

1TB hhd

Thanks in advance,

That13thGuy

I know... I just saw it in a lot of gaming builds more then a year ago when I bought it. It seemed like a lot of people liked it for budget pcs. Would it run though?

That isnt very settling... Is it worth going for an r7 260x 2GB for about the same price instead?

Get a better power supply. Then upgrade.

I think it might be fine actually, but it might be quite close to the top end of the wattage

I've also heard that the CX PSUs don't regulate the voltage as well once it gets over a certain temperature, so you'd probably want to make sure the temperature stays down in your case

Specs: CPU: AMD FX 6300 Motherboard: Gigabyte 970A DS3P RAM: HyperX Fury 16GB 1866MHz GPU: MSI R9 270 OC edition Case: Sharkoon VS3-S SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB HDD: 1TB Caviar Blue PSU: Corsair CX500W

*If I say something that seems offensive, please don't take it seriously, it was most likely meant as a joke/sarcastically*

I may not be the most knowledgable on PSUs but I was implying that it's gonna cut it really close to the PSU's power limit. That and combined with the god damn fact that it can only do full power at 30c which probably won't be possible with a 6970, it's not gonna work, or if it does, just barely.

it's slower than a 6970 and is still going to warm up the case - spend a bit extra (30$) and get an XFX TS 550W

Damn this is heated. ^^^^^ Anyways you should be able to run it, but you might be pushing it nevertheless. I would upgrade your PSU if I were you, just to be on the safe side. Better safe than sorry.

I meant if I could sell it. I dont have a job right now and I am only 15 but I love gaming to dept. I need 8gb ram, either the r7 260x 2gb or the 6970 and maby a psu for the upgrade.

Honestly if you're running games from a few years ago or are playing MOBAs or simple shooters, you will have no problems whatsoever with 1GB of VRAM
