Rant-

So I am one of those users of Verizon that was grandfathered in with my unlimited data.  Recently Verizon has increased the cost of this plan by 20$ and as of yesterday for me at least they cut off my ability to tether to my home computer, less I pay them another 20$ a month.

I was able to get around all of this with the use of an application called FoxFi, but alas it could not be, for the conglomerate known as Verizon has cut me off by the knees.  Thus my house and electronics are all but useless...as of course my blue ray player (Xbox One) needed an update so now I can't even do my morning workouts (Insanity) :(

I am sure though without said interwebs I will be more productive in other projects that I put off for a few rounds of TF2 or CS:GO.  May even get back into digital art, although I do use a lot of internet photos and writings for motivation.  Hmmm no youtube either, puts a damper on some wood working projects I have ready to go as well.

The lack of high speed internet is the largest downfall of living in rural "murica."  Hopefully the devs at FoxFi can get a fix within the next week or two.

PS: this will really kill my F@H average!

So can i get something straight as i'm confused. Your mad because your grandfathered plan went up $20, which i understand and agree that's total BS.

But what your REALLY mad about is your free tethering app (which might i add is not supported through Verizon because Verizon has a fee connected to that portion of their phone plans, does not work? Which i'm pretty sure is a breach of the Verizon ToC? Am i wrong on that?

$20 for unlimited data and the (im pretty sure) against Verizon ToC tethering app. So yeah $40 but really only $20 legally.

Definitely not angry or mad just bummed.

Just man up and pay the $20 a month.

FoxFi was great for a while when I used it before my carrier could tell that I was tethering even when I was using it. I probably put about 450GB through it.

Aye I may have to do that, but i checked and think it is around 30$ now.  I will just have to check and determine when having "full time" albeit slower internet at home is going to be better than only having internet at home while my phone is there.  (Wife) gets antsy if she doesn't have pinterest and this is mainly when I am out running errands or at drill weekend.

One of the guys at my work has that same issue your having right now with the unlimited data and inability to tether. He is going to spend the money because he believes it is worth it. If you use it a lot and will get your moneys worth then pay for it!

I would be bummed too.

I agree with those stating its against the ToS/ToC, never have disagreed with that, but when you have something for so long and then its pulled out from under you, it can be a bit shocking.

I do use it enough we usually have around 60GB a month from streaming netflix to our TV or perusing the internet on tablet.  So it will probably be worth it, just have to work it into the monthly budget by saving a bit less.

Yeah i got yah. Its always a pain to have a feature you are used to using pulled out, against ToC/ToS or not. I hope you can make it work with your budget. If you use it and you need it, its worth it!

Foxfi is back up and working. It went out on me around November 20th when I tried to use it. Saw a single thread on a search about it being fixed and didn't believe it. To my suprise it works! 11/24 11:10PM EST it worked after restarting phone. I'm on a non rooted Galaxy S5 with Verizon grandfathered unlimited plan.

I forgot to add as I am paranoid, I just hope this was foxfi fixing the problem and not Verizon playing a cat mouse game to catch those that use the app. I say this because at no point has my phone had a Google play store update for foxfi, kinda has me scratching my head. To those that will say it's your own fault if it is a trap, I realize it is a violation of Toc and will accept the reality should things not work out. I however have been a loyal Verizon customer for more than a decade. Back to the days when they offered free software for usb tethering with old flip phones or really before flip phones and touch screens, circa 2002/2003.

I hope you're correct in saying it's a foxfi thing. But without an update to our phones I wonder what they could have done?
