In the troubleshooting section, hundreds of people post problems that may be related, but some patterns can be hard to spot

I want a tool that I can put their system specs and problem into, then sort as desired, for example sort by graphics card or sort by issue, etc

I would do this by myself at first, though I'd try to have a public copy available for anyone who is curious

My question: What tool should I use?

Can excel do this?

Is there a website for this?

I could maybe do it with an SQL database, but I'm looking for something less... well designed for servers.

If anyone knows how to do it in excel that would be perfect!

Explain

Excel or Google Sheets offers basic for it. Database would require ID and is more when you have multiple different things you want to relate main thing.

I think I'll check out Google Sheets first, you wouldn't happen to know how to go about it, would you?

Excel and Sheets are mostly same thing. Its table style software. I would set top row for your filters (like specs, OS and symptoms) and first column as ID starting from 0001 etc. or username/other factor. And remember to include link to thread also. If you are thinking making this database style at somepoint, its better to use unique IDs from beginning.

Excel has bit better sorting option. I like most feature where software actually recognizes that top row is header and doesn't count is as item to be sorted. Last used that with personal laptop comparison.

I'll try to use Sheets since anyone can view it, plus I can acess it from any computer
