[Still need help] Linux Mint on USB not working

Go to solution Solved by Vozella,

I didn't find the solution, but I don't need it anymore.

So, continuing off of my previous thread, I came across a new problem. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/490989-how-do-i-see-inside-a-hard-drive-without-the-viruses

I put Linux Mint on a USB stick and attempted to start it, but nothing comes up. If I choose compatibility mode, this comes up.

How do I get past this?

Is your motherboard on Legacy BIOS or UEFI BIOS?

I've tried both. Which one is the right one?

I just built this PC a few months ago.

It depends on the linux OS you are trying to install. There are UEFI versions and legacy versions. I would say try Legacy to be safe. Also, what program did you use to make your usb a bootable device?

Screw it. Since no one can help me with this, I'm just gonna put Windows on it.

you just want to be able to access the hdd? honestly, i'd just use hirens boot disk, and boot into minixp. you can run virus scans and stuff from there too.

FYI - Mint is having issue with the graphics driver on the live USB. Pres alt F2-F8 to get into getty and continue from there. Since you are trying to boot into a desktop environment to check the contents of the HDD. Try a different Linux distro,  recomend using something like damn small linux or puppy.
