Ah. Fair enough.

Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 is a very business oriented and well trusted branded unit. I used Thinkpads and none have failed me. Runs for 472 Euros (according to current stock exchange from USD to Euros

As Bluejay said the thinkpad is pretty decent, Lenovo is a trusted brand.  Another one to look into is the Samsung Ativ Tab 5, it comes with the S-pen and digitizer so you can take notes in class which might come in handy.  In addition there is the Acer Iconia that comes in 10.1" and 8" form factors.

I used to have a hybrid but found that having a laptop and tablet is much better, though it's matter of opinion.

There is a number of hybrids coming out with Haswell chips but those are a bit out of your price range like the Sony Duo 13.  Avoid hybrids that have ivy bridge chips because those all have terrible battery life for school purposes.

Ideapad Yoga and Thinkpad Helix are both convertible tablets with reasonably long battery life (5-6 hours minimum). Helix is the pricier option, but 10 hours of default battery life.

Thinkpad Twist is a less expensive model similar to the Helix.
