i see a daily dose of people posting if they should get another GPU that they allready have or buy a new single more powerfull card

and everybody is like:

"allways go with the stronger single GPU, and upgrade later"

but when that "later" comes, they will say exactlly the same: get new single one...

it's really funny

why not get another 1 that you allready have and you will be good for a while

well, if theres the means of getting a single better card, get a single better card.

SLI/CF is great for case filling, or when you need to upgrade at a budget.

power supply wattage plays a role as well.

Not all games support multiple GPUs. Arkham Knight is a recent example of that where Warner Bros refuses to give it support for SLI/Crossfire. Additionally, both SLI and Crossfire setups introduce potential issues - if I ran something like Euro Truck Simulator 2 on my 660 Ti's in SLI(when I had it that way), I got major stuttering. Fortunately, running a single 660 Ti was sufficient, but imagine if they were lower end cards. It could be unplayable now.

Moved to Graphics Cards.

The experiences I've had with SLI have been the same as single cards.

Both setups worked phenomenally for me, and I very rarely ever had/have issues.

If the only games you ever plan on playing are AAA games, very rarely will you have SLI problems or lack of SLI support.   A lot of older games don't support SLI, and most of the time don't need it because they are so old.

If someone asks something like.. "should I get 980 TI or 2 980s for $50 extra?"  I suggest 2 980, because 2 980's walk all over a 980 TI.
