What's the difference of 2GB GPU vs 4GB? How does it affect my game and when will the difference be noticeable?

What's the difference between the two GPUs in the image?

Untitled_zpschsnaalo.png

And if I we're to purchase R9-380, will it be worth it for my PC? I mostly play dota2 but with my current build I cant play smooth @1080p.

I also want to explore more games in the future.

Here's the current specs of my PC:

Processor: AMD Athlon II x3 455

Cooler: Deep Cool Gammax 200

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2

RAM: G-skill RipjawsX 2x4GB DDR3 1600

GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 2GB

PSU: Corsair VS450

Casing: Aerocool VS-3

Monitor: ASUS VC239

I hope someone here can give me few lectures. Thanks in advance!

i think you might want to upgrade your cpu for MOBA.

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

4GB, might want to upgrade your CPU or both CPU and Mainboard as well.

The 2GB or 4GB stand for the Vram, Aka Video Random Access Memory. It's like RAM for the CPU, but instead dedicated to the GPU.

Games require Vram too, and the standard was once 2GB, because of the low cost and it's generally good. But in these times, 4GB is way safer, seeing that heavier games are going over the 2GB Vram limit.

If you reach your limit of VRam, the game will start to stutter and become nearly unplayable. You don't really want that to happen.

Don't worry though, anywhere from 3 - 4GB, you will be just fine for 1080p. Yet, on higher resolutions, 4GB is the bare minimum.

Basic guide to CPU's!

If I said I were 14, you would call me a kid. If I say 70, you’ll entitle me too old. If I say 20 you say I’m inexperienced and if I say 40 than I'm too boring.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I will push my budget to getting 4GB VRAM.

Could you guys give suggestions of a budget CPU Upgrade? You see I'll be throwing a lot of $$ for the GPU.

it'd suggest getting a more reliable PSU rather than CPU as it stands - an XFX TS 550W is a good choice when you are limited on the budget. Corsair VS are REALLY low quality - same goes for CX

Yep - even laptops opt for 3-4GB minimum nowadays

Thank you. I'll consider that. I just need to know if I really need to upgrade my CPU and Mobo. Because if that's the case I'll be forced to just sell my whole CPU and build a new one.

you can do that later - PSU is your primary concern

The one you gave me is the cheap option that I could get right? Thanks I will add it on my list.

Anyone who can enlighten me with DDR3 and DDR5 on GPU?

Do I need to have certain support from the Mobo to enjoy DDR5?

XFX TS 550W, Antech High Current Gamer 520M, SeaSonic S12II 450W, EVGA G2/GS 550W - any of those

Memory on the GPU doesn't need a compatibility check - GDDR5 is VASTLY superior to GDDR3
